Dear Friends,
A few weeks ago we celebrated Pentecost— the coming of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the church. We read the stories of the amazing transformation of ordinary people to do extraordinary things. We are reminded that when we are truly open to God, we can do far more than we ever think or imagine.
We are heading into summer, a time that we have the mind set of “vacation” even if we never leave home or even take a day off. I want to encourage you not to take a vacation from your faith and your spiritual growth. In the next month we will be beginning a program called “Listening to God”. This was voted on by the board after a suggestion by Greg Alexander. Listening to God is a 10 week small group that leads us through scripture and begins to help us to discern God’s call to us as individuals and as a congregation. It will be vital that we get as many people in a small groups as possible.
In this time between now and when these groups begin, please be in prayer for the church. Find ways to get involved in one of the opportunities such as 2Nd Saturday or Movie Night. Come to worship. At the very heart of each of us is the need to give our praise to God.
In a couple of weeks the camp season begins. I am tired thinking about it! But I know that this summer about 850 campers will pass through the campsites of KumBaYa and WaKonDaHo and their lives and faith journeys will be forever changed. It is a powerful time. Please keep the KY Outdoor Ministry in your prayers this summer.
